has the price of hot wheels/TOMY toy cars increased?

i have been collecting hot wheels toy cars (in addition to other brands of 1/64 scale toy cars) for 8 years and going strong. i’m from singapore and a year ago the price of hot wheels toy cars had jumped from the good SG $2.50 to SG $2.90. Then somwhere around this year the price went up to $3.50 a car. is the price increasing only in singapore, or is it increasing elsewhere as well? another thing – TOMY japan toy cars, which used to cost SG $2.95, are now a whooping $5. is this price inflation of toy cars happening elsewhere as well? maybe due to rising costs of metal, fuel and labour

Over here in the United States, the price of Hot Wheels have remained fairly steady at the major retailers at under US$1.00. In the last 5 years they have risen about US$.10 with the rapid price change of fuel, that little amount of change isn’t much. Gasoline has gone from about $2 a gallon back then to over $3 a gallon now.

We don’t have any major retailers for Tomica, but if we did they would surely cost US$3.00 or more as they are a lot higher quality in design then Hot Wheels. There are some resellers of Tomica on eBay, certain “everyday” models can fetch US$8.00 or more to american collectors just because we can’t get them as easy.
